About

Gustavo ''Guga'' Morgado is a Portuguese artist, born in 2000.

He lives and works between Lisbon and Caldas da Rainha.

Guga Morgado’s work is built upon a hybrid visual language in which culture, collective memory, and personal experience intertwine. His paintings reveal a strong presence of external references from various fields, integrated into a fragmented and symbolic visual universe.

There is also an evident critical dimension throughout his work. Aesthetically, the work approaches a logic of contemporary visual collage, where different times, styles, and visual codes coexist within the same pictorial space. This approach reveals influences from digital visual culture and postmodern aesthetics, marked by the mixing, appropriation, and recontextualization of images.

Guga Morgado holds a degree in Painting and Drawing from the Ar.Co - Art Centre and Visual Communication (2022-2025) and a degree in Marketing and Publicity at IADE (2019-2022).
